Jam: Wildermiss
Many people think of a concert’s opening act as something to suffer through before their beloved headliner or something to skip altogether. This is a mistake. Today’s opener could be tomorrow’s headliner.
Indie rock trio Wildermiss is from Denver originally but is now based out of Nashville. While they’ve released a few EPs, their first-full length, Levitate, was just released at the end of October, with a laid-back, guitar driven sound with hints of synth and shoegaze, plus breathy, ethereal vocals from frontwoman Emma Cole.
In the spring, they opened for Jukebox the Ghost and impressed with a great, energetic set that was fun to watch, with songs like “New Year’s,” “W.I.F.I.,” “This Isn’t How the Story Ends,” and had the crowd singing along on “Choice.” While the entire band was great, Cole in particular stood out with her vocals and stage presence, putting her heart and soul into the music.
Wildermiss’ tour with Jukebox the Ghost has come to an end, but you can catch them opening for Andrew McMahon in the Wilderness now through mid-December.
