Weekly Playlist 5/22
Every Friday, I share the highlights of what I’ve been listening to over the course of the week, from old favorites to new discoveries. Playlist best enjoyed in order.
It’s another short one this week, starting with what feels like it could be appropriate for the times — “All Together Now” by The Beatles, when we ought to all be dedicated to wiping out a super contagious virus, but instead, people wanting to keep themselves and others safe are dismissed as cowards living in fear.
Following that is “Without You” by Perfume Genius, a sweet little track that has pieces of indie and pop, and Kacey Musgraves’ “Slow Burn,” a nice acoustic song that’s a nice turn to classic country as opposed to the twang-filled odes to trucks, girls, and beer that seem to dominate the genre of late.
We close with more acoustic guitars on a Bob Dylan classic, “Desolation Row,” which feels like a complete 180 from where this playlist started but appropriately so.
